Bloodstock 2013 New Blood Stage Preview: NEONHALO

neonhalo band bloodstock festival

The New Blood Stage exists to provide a platform for the next generation of metal talent to reach a wider audience. From Bloodstock’s very beginning back in 2001 there has been a focus on offering a chance for newcomers – the new blood if you will – to strut their stuff.

The New Blood Stage is an exceptional opportunity for emerging acts to perform in front of Bloodstock’s dedicated audience of metal fans and important music industry figures. Those lucky enough to secure a slot on the New Blood Stage also get to play both Wacken Open Air in Germany and Metal Camp in Slovenia.

Bloodstock’s always supported the next generation of bands and to me it was obvious they needed a platform to show their wares – Bloodstock founder Paul Raymond Gregory

Band Members: Lou Ede-Vocals, Alex Brown- Guitar, Will Henders- Guitar, Ande Boothby- Bass, Mike Bassam- Drums
Year Formed: 2003
Location: Chatham, Kent
The band at Bloodstock most likely to: Rape & Pillage

Give me the ‘Hollywood Film’ version of how the band formed and how you came to be named.

It would be one of those B-Movies where everyone’s killed off early and replaced with machines….then those machines are smashed up and replaced with something even more awesome.

We’ve been through so many changes since this band started that none of it is relevant anymore.  We got back together in January with an adjusted line-up and have just been drinking and smashing shit up since then.  I don’t think anyone remembers where the name came from, but its always been easier to keep it than to think of something new that we didn’t hate.

What style of metal do you play?

Death f*cking metal

What bands would you say your music is ‘for fans of’ ?

Cannibal Corpse, At The Gates, Unleashed, Dismember, Municipal Waste etc.

How did you get your slot at the Festival?

We beat some really awesome bands to win the Kent region Metal 2 The Masses competition.

What’s the first thing you did after you found out you had a slot?

We sh*t out our collective pelvis.

Which of your tracks do you think will create the biggest wave of headbanging?

Probably ‘She Was Dead When I Got There’  or ‘Flayed & Dismembered’, the whole set is normally total f*cking carnage though.

Is this the largest event you have played, and what are the nerves like?

Yeah this will be our biggest show by a long way, there’s not really a lot in the way of nerves though, we’re all just pumped to get up there and smash it up.

Which band members are likely to have the most incriminating photos after the festival?

Its got to be Ande, that guy is always wandering off.  Who knows what he gets up to.

Which bands are you most looking forward to seeing?

Dying Fetus, Municipal Waste, King Diamond, Exodus, Dark Funeral, Scar Symmetry, Bull-Riff Stampede – f*cking loads, its gonna be a busy weekend.

What have been the best moments for you at previous Bloodstock Festivals?

We’re all about the Bin Jousting, hopefully we’ll see more battles like Banana vs Pirate in 2011- that was f*cking epic.

What is your current release? Explain a little about it….

Our debut EP ‘Forensic Pornography‘ will be out in time for Bloodstock.  Its 4 tracks of crushingly heavy metal- blending speed, brutality and dark humor.  We’ve been working on it non-stop for the past 6 months and we’ll be playing the whole thing at Bloodstock, so come check it out and go f*cking mental.

Lastly, a set clash with a main stage band, give a good reason/threat/sob story as to why fans should come watch you instead..

Whoever it is, they’re probably way more successful than us and probably wouldn’t mind if you skipped this one.  Come see us instead, we promise to show you a good time.

NEONHALO are playing Bloodstock Festival on Sunday 11th August.
