As Bloodstock swiftly approaches, MetalMouth wants to focus on the New Blood Stage artists, so we fired off some bite sized pre-festival questions to the bands. EXILE THE TRAITOR is up first.
How did you choose your bands name?
We had a list of names that we thought sounded cool and we went with Exile The Traitor because it wasnt a typical death metal gore name and it fitted more with our style.
Whats the most difficult thing you encounter as an emerging band, and how have you overcome it?
The most difficult thing is to get your band known and out there and even with things like Facebook it is still hard for people to take a chance on an unknown band. We basically promote the hell out our band and try make people aware of us more. This is why the New Blood Stage is so essential for bands like us.
How would you describe Exile The Traitors sound?
We have been best described as “The Black Dahlia Murder getting into a fist fight with At The Gates while Ash from The Evil Dead movies referees”
How did you get to play the festival?
We won the Scottish leg of The Metal 2 The Masses competition
What are your nerves like right now? Is this your biggest audience/festival appearance?
We are nervous but I think we are more excited to get up there and show everyone what we can do. I think festival goers will dig what we do. This will be our biggest audience and first festival show so no pressure haha.
What bands are you most looking forward to seeing at Bloodstock?
We are all huge fans of The Black Dahlia Murder so definetly watching them but also Chthonic, Behemoth and Nile should be good. Its a fantastic lineup so we will watch as much as we can
Are there any up and coming bands out there that you would recommend keeping an eye on right now?
Blood Thread from Glasgow who sound like a down tuned mix of Gojira, Mastodon and Morbid Angel, Maelstrom from Glasgow who are the best dressed gentleman in black metal and finally Forgotten Empires who are more of the Killswitch Engage/All That Remains type but with a female vocalist who can really sing. To be honest Scotland has an amazing scene right now so Id recommend checking out all the bands
Do you have any funny stories from your route to Bloodstock (or any previous times that you have been to a festival) that you can share with the MetalMouth readers?
Weirdly our journey throughout the gigs leading to Bloodstock have went totally without any sort of hitches so keep an eye out at the festival for us as theres bound to be some sort of hilarity.
Are there any messages you would like to pass onto your fans?
Just that we appreciate anyone who has clicked like on our Facebook, anyone who has come to see us and to all the folk that have any sort of interest in us. It is hugely appreciated.
Cheers dude for the interview \m/
