Bloodstock Festival opens it’s gates in just over two weeks, we want you to see what’s in store for you on the New Blood stage. Brilliantly named, Neiphrobous from Infernal Creation, gives us some insights.
How did you choose your bands name?
It was our drummer, Bastard, who came up with the name originally. We contemplated a few others but nothing seemed to fit, a little while later Bastard ranted something along the lines of ‘Look, we create unholy fucking metal don’t we? I say we call this Infernal Creation’ and it just seemed fitting.
What’s the most difficult thing you encounter as an emerging band, and how have you overcome it?
Well honestly I’d say money and time. Like most bands all members of Infernal Creation are responsible for bookings, promotion, finances, distribution, tour management, travel arrangements etc which is fantastic when it comes to keeping the artistic vision of the band on a single focused path but it can also be a huge issue at times. It consumes all aspects of your life and means that every member has given up so much and lived off quite little at times just to do what we love. I’m afraid there is no easy solution to the financial problems facing emerging bands today, it is simply about perseverance and sacrifice.
How would you describe Infernal Creation’s sound?
I would say that it is Black Metal that employs shades of thrash and death metal. It is a union of passion, energy and aggression.
How did you get to be a part of the festival? (If through Metal to the Masses, which area?)
We submitted our press pack to Simon Hall at Bloodstock and he got in touch with us a little while later to officially offer us a slot to perform on the New Blood Stage at this year’s festival.
What are the nerves like right now? Is this your biggest ever audience/first festival appearance?
To be honest my nerves aren’t that bad at the moment, but that could be because my minds quite focused on writing material for the next disk. I am, however, extremely excited about Bloodstock as it will be the biggest festival Infernal Creation have performed at to date.
What bands are you most looking forward to at Bloodstock?
I’d say Mayhem, Watain, Anaal Nathrakh, Eastern Front, Grand Magus and Winterfylleth to name a few but the lineup is just amazing so I’ll probably try to see as many bands as possible.
Are there any up and coming bands that you would recommend keeping an eye on right now?
Without a shadow of a doubt Old Corpse Road, Cryptic Age, Ravenage and Cultfinder are all doing amazing things right now. I would also say if you haven’t yet you should seek out a band called Ascension from Germany, their latest album, Consolamentum, is one of the best CD’s I’ve heard in years.
Do you have any funny stories from your route to Bloodstock (or any previous times that you have been to the festival) that you would like to share with MetalMouth readers?
Erm, not really sure if I do have any truly funny stories from the road to Bloodstock, it’s all been pretty intense for us as a band in the past few months with gigging, booking other events and writing new material to be honest. It’s all been running along quite smoothly and without too many hiccups thankfully. Unfortunately I can’t remember most things I’ve done at previous festivals other than watch some great bands and drink far too much Jager.
Are there any messages you would like to pass on to your fans?
