Bloodstock creeps ever closer, so MetalMouth chats to Liverpudlian hybrid metallers, Scare Tactics for a bite sized pre festival interview:
How did you choose your bands name?
We were trying to think of a name for a while, and the guy who hits stuff with sticks (Stu) saw the phrase in a book and asked what we thought, it was the best idea for a name we’d came up with so it stuck!
What’s the most difficult thing you encounter as an emerging band, and how have you overcome it?
Trying to get a fan base outside of our own city is probably the hardest part, and we can’t say we’ve overcome it just yet! We still want to get out of town as much as possible! So people hit us up with any gig opportunities!
How would you describe Scare Tactics’ sound?
Heavy, light, fast, slow, melodic, groovy, funky, dirty… We just play what we like, what we think sounds good and try not to write two songs the same.
How did you get to be a part of the festival? (if through Metal to The Masses which area?)
The awesome Metal to The Masses competition in Liverpool! They were some of our best gigs with over 200 in attendance! And we’re extremely proud to get through!
What are the nerves like right now? Is this your biggest ever audience/first festival appearance?
It’s still not fully sunk in, but every day it gets closer and our nerves get worse! But REALLY looking forward to showcasing our songs on the New Blood Stage! This will be our first major festival appearance but we’re not going to let it be our last!
What bands are you most looking forward to seeing at Bloodstock?
Most of them! Sa-Da-Ko, My Wooden Pillow and Derision are guys we’ve played with before who we’re looking forward to seeing! Testament, Orange Goblin, Iced Earth, Alice Cooper, Malefice, Dimmu Borgir, fuck, too many to choose haha!
Are there any other up and coming bands out there you would recommend keeping an eye on right now?
Our good friends in Entropy, Lazarus Syndrome, and Rain May Fall, the North West metal scene is getting better and better so there are many others to watch out for!
Do you have any funny stories from your route to Bloodstock (or any previous times that you have been to the festival) that you would like to share with the MetalMouth readers?
We would tell you, but we need to keep out of prison, and the badgers would not be impressed…
Are there any messages that you would like to pass on to your fans?
Thanks for all your support! Check us out at Bloodstock and hopefully see you in the future! Be sure to check out our new t-shirts and find us on Facebook too, search Scare Tactics UK Based Metal, and keep in touch!
