As Bloodstock rapidly descends upon us, MetalMouth is concentrating on The New Blood Stage, so next up is Lluc and Josh from SEPREVATION giving us a bite sized pre festival interview.
How did you choose your bands name?
Joss – I sat for hours mixing words and letters around until I came up with Seprevation, pretty boring really.
What’s the most difficult thing you encounter as an emerging band, and how have you overcome it?
Joss – Nothing really, it’s more exciting than anything, we’ve had no problems yet.
Lluc – Trying to build a following in new cities. When no one has heard you it can be hard to get their interest especially if you are first on.
How would you describe Seprevation‘s sound?
Joss – It’s pretty much in my opinion old school death/thrash, we all love bands like Morbid Angel, Sadus, Possessed and Death etc. so I hope it sounds something like that.
Lluc – Fast and relentless.
How did you get to be a part of Bloodstock Festival? (if through Metal to The Masses which area?)
Joss – We entered the metal to the masses in Bristol, if I can be honest, I hate the idea as we’ve had to compete against our friends to make it here, it’s pretty shit.
Lluc – It’s cool to be representing Bristol though.
What are the nerves like right now? Is this your biggest ever audience/first festival appearance?
Joss – I think the biggest audience so far is roughly 2 – 300, in the metal to the masses final. I’m not really nervous though to be honest.
Lluc – I played last year with ‘Unknown Fear’ so I have an idea of what it’s like. Can’t wait really, it was fucking mental and hopefully will be again.
What bands are you most looking forward to seeing at Bloodstock?
Joss – For me it’s The Black Dahlia Murder, Benediction, Bloodshot Dawn,Nile and Testament.
Lluc – Iced Earth,Nile, Testament, Behemoth, Flayed Disciple, Bloodshot Dawn, Reign of Fury and Dio Disciples cause The Ripper is awesome!
Are there any other up and coming bands out there you would recommend keeping an eye on right now?
Joss – Well Bloodshot Dawn have recently released their debut album, which I highly recommend. I’d also like to recommend Rager from Bristol, awesome thrash and good mates of ours.
Lluc – Vyral, Craniation, Flayed Disciple and Vrana are worth checking out too.
Do you have any funny stories from your route to Bloodstock (or any previous times that you have been to the festival) that you would like to share with the MetalMouth readers?
Joss – On the back of our shirts we have ‘fuck the cunts’, which was an in joke really, but recently it’s become a chant for the crowd, I suppose it’s easier to chant than Seprevation.
Lluc – I remembered being completely smashed at the festival last year and being told to climb up on a wheelie bin by some bearded dude, two seconds later I discovered the festival art of bin jousting and was hurled into another bin and thrown through the air. It fucking hurt!
Are there any messages that you would like to pass on to your fans?
Joss – Thank you to anyone who has supported us so far, especially the Bristol scene. FTC.
Lluc – See you on the road!!!!!
