Bloodstock New Blood Stage Preview – THE CONFLICT WITHIN

With Bloodstock only days away, MetalMouth catches up with T.C.W (The Conflict Within) frontman, Phil Primmer for a quick chat.

The Conflict Within T.C.W

How did you choose your bands name?

After bouncing a few ideas together, and coming to no agreement. It was said, it’s just conflicting. It was then built on that.

What’s the most difficult thing you encounter as an emerging band, and how have you overcome it?

Petrol prices! Seriously though it is looking after everything and getting shows and dates to work together so everything runs like clockwork.

How would you describe The Conflict Within‘s sound?

Heavy with melodic elements but also catchy with a slice of groove. If you like a European metal influence with some hardcore elements. That’s what we aim for.

How did you get to be a part of the festival? (if through Metal to The Masses which area?)

We were runners up in the Essex “Metal to The Masses”. We then went to do a showcase show through unified sounds at the Camden Underworld, and was selected to play from that show by Simon Hall.

What are the nerves like right now? Is this your biggest ever audience/first festival appearance?

For Conflict this is our biggest show to date, our Bass player and I have played various festivals and had touring experience. I think it is excitement rather than nerves with us, we just aim to put on our usual fun packed show and enjoy the weekend.

What bands are you most looking forward to seeing at Bloodstock?

As always Bloodstock treats us to so many awesome bands, there is something for everyone. Personally Hatebreed, Testament, Crowbar, Dimmu Borgir, Machine Head, Orange Goblin. I could just go on, as I will be at the stages all over the weekend.

Are there any other up and coming bands out there you would recommend keeping an eye on right now?

Agonyst, Sanctorum, Bull Riff Stampede, Unit9, Splintered Soul, Merciless Fail, I could go on with a massive list. These guys are all fantastic musicians and also really great to have shared stages with. No ego BS you get from some bands, just like minded musicians in great bands.

Do you have any funny stories from your route to Bloodstock (or any previous times that you have been to the festival) that you would like to share with the MetalMouth readers?

Well……………… I have to be careful, what happens on tour stays on tour. Code of the road.  Actually one hotel we stayed in on the way to shows, we have picture evidence of my testicles on a band member’s beer and then another one of the guys took photos. After he took the photos he got so drunk he forgot what had happened and drunk the said beer…… Then only remembering half way through.

Are there any messages that you would like to pass on to your fans?

Thank You, thank you and thank you. We cannot begin to express how much your support means to us! See you guys at the bar!
